This team is based mostly on statistics, but age also plays a factor in my decisions as a very good year by a younger player tends to be more impressive than a great year by someone a bit older.

Catcher - Sebastian Valle

The Phillies prospect hit .307/.335/.531 for Williamsport over 206 plate appearances. At 19 years old he could use better plate discipline than he showed at Williamsport where he had a 4.9% walk rate and had a 19.9% strikeout rate.

Honorable Mention - Sean Ochinko

First Base - Christopher McGuiness

The Lowell first baseman hit .255/.374/.434 on the season in a down year for first baseman in the league. McGuiness had a 15.2% walk rate to go along with his 17% strikeout rate.

Honorable Mention - Erik Castro

Second Base - Brock Holt

The State College second baseman hit .299/.361/.449 on the season with 285 plate appearances.  Holt had an impressive 9.1% walk rate and 10.9% strikeout rate.

Honorable Mention - Francisco Soriano

Shortstop - Tyler Bortnick

The 22 year old hit .300/.378/.470 for Hudson Valley this season with a 10.6% walk rate and 15% strikeout rate. Bortnick had 17 doubles, 4 triples, 4 HR’s and 23 stolen bases.

Honorable Mention - Jeremy Barnes

Third Base - Alan Ahmady

Batavia’s man at the hot corner hit .292/.407/.391 and while Ahmady lacked power his 15.9% walk rate and 17.6% strikeout rate made him a very tough out.

Honorable Mention - Patrick Irvine

Outfield - Julio Martinez

Martinez hit .326/.380/.540 for Tri-City. The 22 year old had 15 walks and 30 strikeouts  over 208 plate appearances.

Outfield - Ryan Westmoreland

The Red Sox prospect hit .296/.401/.484 for Lowell. The 19 year old also had a 14.2% walk rate, 18.4% strikeout rate and 19 steals in 267 plate appearances.

Outfield - Leandro Castro

Castro hit .316/.350/.512 with 18 steals for Williamsport. The 20 year old also had a 4.7% walk rate to go along with a 17.7% strikeout rate.
