You guys should date your articles. With a time-sensitive piece like this, it’s hard to get too excited without knowing the date the story was published.

Also, this piece would mean a lot more if some reasoning was provided. At a bare minimum, you need an intro loosely explaining your methodology.

  2. Adam says:

Also, the rotation top story area on the home page could use some work.

It’s hard to nail down design — I’m constantly trying to think of ways to improve ours — but lots of white space + no teaser text + low-quality images = uneventful home page. I’m sure you guys are working on it.

The photos that you’re using aren’t that great either…further brought down by the halo photo credits. I’d be happy to share some of my prospect photos with firstinning.com. Just let me know who you’re after.

(I say all this because I care about FI.com. It’s nice to see that you guys are trying to improve your product.)

  3. Andy Seiler says:

Thanks for the input Adam. If you click the link to the blog listed by my name at the bottom of the piece, you’ll see that my blog is on its seventh version of a mock draft, and because this one was extended by a round and published all at once, I withheld individual comments in favor of answering questions and comments on specific picks or teams. My previous mocks have individual comments, and the final one coming out Tuesday morning before the draft will also have comments. This was just my first mapping of how teams might group picks based on their trends. My methodology and such was explained both in my blog and on MinorLeagueBall.com, where I published the first few versions of the mock. I’ll probably re-write that intro in future articles on here. The problem was that this was just simply moved from my blog to here, so the context might be a little off. That will be fixed in the future.

This version of the mock was published on June 1.

Once again, thanks for the reply and please bear with some of the growing pains.

    -Andy

Adam, when do you see the Belfiore kid from BC being picked? Did you see his performance an overuse vs. Texas? Played the first 9 plus innings at 1B, then came on in relief for over 9 innnings 120+ pitches, had not pitched more than 2 innings all year. Had several work-outs scheduled this week that had to be cancelled…

  5. Jake says:

Adam, there is something coming soon (in the next couple of weeks hopefully) for that white space, I shot you an email about photos as well.
